Kovit Planning travel restrictions the long weekend of May BC

"This is not the time to load Winnipeg and travel around British Columbia".

There are 441 people in hospital in BC, a new record high along with a record high of 138 in critical care or I.C.U.

When they were announced, new daily COVID-19 cases were at about 900, but the weekly average has risen since then and, as of April 15, was at about 1,100 new cases per day.

Another eight deaths were attributed to the virus over the weekend, bringing BC's death toll to 1,530. Henry said there had been no new health-care facility outbreaks.

There are 9,353 active cases of the virus in B.C., as 14,711 people are self-isolating due to possible exposure to COVID-19.

As of Saturday, more than 1.2 million people in B.C. have received their first vaccine dose.

In addition, we will be establishing specific AstraZeneca vaccine clinics in the 13 communities with the highest identified transmission in community.

For a complete list of the 13 communities, as well as information to assist in determining if you reside in one of these communities. Anyone trying to book accommodations from outside of B.C. won't be able to do so for the next five weeks.

Current restrictions include a ban on indoor dining and fitness groups, as well as indoor social gatherings and events. The Expedited Workplace Closure order also remains in place.

Health officials are also expected to provide an update on the temporary public health orders introduced on March 29, which are scheduled to expire Monday if they aren't renewed.

Our hospitals are stretched, our health-care workers exhausted.

"We know when we take action, we will always be two weeks behind".

Let's do our part, to use our layers, to stay local and err on the side of caution, so we can put COVID-19 behind us.
