3 adults fatally shot in Austin, no suspect in custody: EMS

Minneapolis Minnesota. The Minneapolis Police Department has been under close scrutiny following the death of George Floyd who died in poli

On Sunday, police swarmed the area searching for 41-year-old Stephen Broderick, who is considered armed and risky.

Interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon said those who live near where the shooting happened late Sunday morning no longer had to shelter in place, but he said they should "remain vigilant".

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Broderick left the Travis County Sheriff's Office last year after he was charged with first-degree felony child sex assault and jailed for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl. "We are asking for residents to continue to shelter in place".

The three people killed were pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect in the deadly shooting that took place in Austin, Texas, is reported to be a former sheriff's detective who was charged with sexually assaulting a child in June previous year.

"This appears to be a domestic incident and the victims were all known to our suspect", Chacon told reporters on Sunday afternoon.

When officials arrived on scene, two women and a man were found shot to death outside an apartment building. Officer do not know the exact relationship between the suspect and victims at this point, he said.

The killings prompted authorities to lock down the surrounding area, which includes a popular shopping complex in the northwest part of Austin, which is the capital of Texas. Later Sunday, law enforcement began leaving the area.

Residents are asked to avoid the area as it is still an active scene. Recently, the country has hardly had time to mourn one high-profile shooting before another occurs. And in the two weeks after, six died in an apparent familicide in Texas and seven in a SC attack, including the gunmen.
