Dr. David Williams Ontario's chief medical officer of health speaks at a Queen's Park news conference

The seven-day average of new daily cases rose to 2,316, the highest point since January 26th.

"When you look at the scale of what we had to deal with here in terms of 3 million people and all the complications of multiple clinics - today we have 30 clinics in place across the city - we either had to try to build our own to be able to accommodate that, or use theirs", Tory said. "To be very frank, I don't want to predict two weeks out, but we'll be out here every single day, communicating with the people".

Growth in daily cases spurred by more contagious and more unsafe variants has been steady through March and now stands at a seven-day average of over 2,000, with the highest positivity rate in months.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce, meanwhile, said that "as of today, we're proceeding, and we're just going to build out a plan" based on the advice of chief medical officer of health Dr. David Williams. COVID-19 Dashboard. This is because once a patient stops testing positive for the virus, the ministry removes them from its number, even if the patient is under critical care with complications.

"We need to press the pause button ... the pandemic is out of control, unless we regain control, so many more people will die".

Ontario reported 2,333 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday and 15 more deaths linked to the virus. Another 1,477 cases have been labelled resolved, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 320,409. Previously, the only figure it was reporting was total number of doses administered. She also says there are 153 new cases in Hamilton, 124 in Ottawa and 120 in Durham Region.

The province continues to see an upward trend of cases of the more contagious variants of concern (VOC), which are predominately of the variant first reported in the United Kingdom.

Of those mutations, officials found 1,229 in the last 24-hour period.

There are at least 1,229 cases of the B.1.1.7. variant in Ontario, as well as 70 B.1.351 variant and 92 P.1. variant.
