Kanter traded to Portland and Hezonjia to Memphis in a three-way deal

Celtics trade Enes Kanter to Trail Blazers in three-team deal with Grizzlies

Kanter will head to Portland while Mario Hezonja and Desmond Bane (the 30th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft) head to Memphis.

The 28-year-old Kanter has around $5 million left on his two-year, $10 million contract that he signed with Boston last season.

There was some Twitter poetry for the occasion from Damian Lillard, Portland's number one guy (OK, number 0 technically). He was dealt from the New York Knicks to the Blazers before the 2019 trade deadline and helped Portland reach the Western Conference Finals, and he seemed to enjoy that playoff run. He stepped up nicely after Jusuf Nurkic broke his leg, and capitalized on that performance with a free agent deal in Boston. However, when forced to play against younger, more athletics teams, he was often targeted and his limited lateral mobility exploited.

The Blazers will be hoping Kanter can make a similar impact next season.

Kanter returns to the Blazers, where he had averaged 13 points, 8.6 rebounds in 23 games at the end of the 2018-19 season. He also averaged 7.4 rebounds per game, 2.8 of them on the offensive glass.
