Gov. Cooper says the two-year teacher pay raise will cost the state $813 million and he says taxes would not be raised to make it happen. "We need to make it easier for people to exercise their right to vote, not harder, and I will not continue to waste time and money appealing this unconstitutional law", Cooper said in a press release on Tuesday. The man had fired his rifle, but there are no reports of injuries. California Highway Patrol tweeted about 9:30 a.m. that an active shooter in the area closed eastbound I-580 at Golf Links Road. His exact cause of death has not been released at this time. The worry, danger and challenges during an active shooter situation in Oakland on Friday were all reflected in Oakland police communications. (more...)
