He managed it, just, on Wednesday as his vast experience saw the 15th seed outlast straggly-haired Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov in a five-set classic in Melbourne. The third set was all Shapovalov with him jumping out to a 3-0 set advantage before cruising to the set victory. It was tight in the fourth as Tsonga's physical presence kept him ahead on serve and he piled on the pressure with some superb forceful tennis to claim the tiebreaker 7-4. (more...)

Drew Brees wants to be back with the New Orleans Saints next season. This took me back to my rec basketball days as a ninth grader. "Obviously I'm here because he believed in me", said Brees. "So while I think we do have a talented team, I know that each year you have to go out and have to prove it. He wanted me to be his quarterback". According to Stephanie Loh of the Seattle Times , police in Pullman, Wa. found Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski dead in his apartment on Tuesday. Hilinksi, listed as a 6-3 sophomore from Claremont, Calif., completed 39 of 50 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns against the Spartans in San Diego. (more...)

The almost $5,000 in contributions donated so far started to come in after the Jaguars beat the Bengals' rival, the Steelers , 45-42. Cincinnati Bengals fans have been donating money to the Blake Bortles Foundation as a way to say thank you for the Jaguars' 45-42 victory last Sunday, which knocked one of the Bengals' biggest rivals out of the playoffs. The wallaby was taken to Taronga Zoo after being caught and was found not have suffered any significant injuries. SYDNEY-A wallaby startled motorists Tuesday when it hopped across Sydney's Harbour Bridge, closely tailed by police. "These animals are quite susceptible to stress, and it causes muscle damage so I don't know whether that's happening", he said. Initial reports suggested the wallaby may have come from Cammeray Golf Club, but staff said they have never seen one on the course. (more...)
