On April 12, as the Sun was blocked by the disk of Saturn the Cassini spacecraft camera looked toward the inner Solar System and the gas giant's backlit rings. These pics were taken about 7,000 miles distance from the moon. Cassini's Magnetometer (MAG) instrument will take advantage of the close flyby to study the northern part of Titan's magnetotail. A Falcon 9 rocket is targeting an April 30 launch of a classified National Reconnaissance Office mission from Kennedy Space Center's pad 39A, and a booster landing back at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The Cygnus is also carrying dozens of small satellites to be deployed either from the space station or the spacecraft in the coming months, including from colleges around the world, in conjunction with Nanoracks and the Von Karman Institute QB50 CubeSats program. Police were searching for Stephens, accused of killing Robert Godwin Sr ., 74, in Cleveland Sunday. On Tuesday morning, Stephens took his own life inside his vehicle in Erie, Pennsylvania. The company has since announced it is launching a review for reporting harmful content. Beech Brook, a behavioral health facility in a Cleveland suburb where Stephens had worked since 2008, said in a statement on Tuesday that Stephens had shown no cause for alarm. (more...)

Apple is the latest tech company or carmaker to obtain the permit. The state of California also requires that a human be behind the wheel of autonomous vehicles during testing. It seems unlikely at this point that the company will suddenly compete with vehicle makers with an Apple auto. In 2016, however, Apple seemed to have pivoted the initiative, opting for creating just the self-driving software to license to established car-makers instead of assembling an entirely new Apple ...
