The pink supermoon over Bourne. These images were sent in by keen photographers Jason Richardson, who also snapped the wolf moon earlier in the year , and David Babbs. The phenomenon is caused by the moon being closer to earth than normal. While there is a difference in brightness and apparent size, Mr Tucker said the supermoon like the one tomorrow is more of an illusion than a scientific phenomenon and it's our brains that make it look so special. The name originates from the Greek word for "passover", picked since the pink supermoon is the initially moon to occur after the Spring Equinox, which took place on March 20. The main difference, though, is that in 1991 the storm clashed with Hurricane Grace, whereas this week's storm does not have that additional factor. NASA has revived its iconic logo from the 70s, the "worm", for the Demo-2 mission that will see the launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule aboard a Falcon-9 rocket. Created by the firm of Danne & Blackburn, the logo was honored in 1984 by President Reagan for its simplistic, yet innovative design.
