The name Borisov honors its discoverer, Crimean amateur astronomer Gennady Borisov, the statement added. The comet was discovered with a 0.65-meter telescope , built by Borisov himself. Astronomers at the University of Hawaii estimate it to be between 1.2 and 10 miles across and will be closest to the sun on December 7. Blue and red dashes are images of background stars which appear to streak due to the motion of the comet. (more...)

The move by the EPA is widely believed to be in retaliation for California suing the federal government after the Trump Administration revoked California's right to set its own fuel economy standards for motor vehicles. The official said that notifying California was the first step in a plan to get more of the country in attainment with national standards, but the official could not say what other states the agency would be contacting. However, a mysterious resurfacing event altered the planet's landscape. That side has been observed many times from lunar orbit, but never up close. Chang'e 4 had touched down on the surface at 10:26 a.m., the China National Space Administration said . This southern hemisphere of the Moon features a more rugged terrain which makes landing harder. The communist country is working on an intensive program of lunar exploration, with Chang'e 3 landing on the moon in 2013 as the first craft since a Soviet device in 1976. (more...)
