A gas pipeline blast on Tuesday, northeast of Prince George , shut down the Enbridge natural gas pipeline about 600 miles northeast of Vancouver and could cut off flow to Washington State. "So turn down your thermostat as low as possible, restrict the use of hot water from your natural gas hot water tank, minimize the use of cooktops and turn off your fireplaces", said Doug Stout, Vice-President of Market and Development and External Relations with FortisBC. NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksey Avchinin were inside the Soyuz MS-10 capsule when the rocket carrying it had what NASA described as a booster separation problem. The International Space Station , a rare point of cooperation between Moscow and Washington, has been orbiting the Earth at roughly 28,000 kilometres per hour since 1998 and will mark its 20th birthday in November. Rick Reichmuth, Fox News' chief meteorologist said Michael was the fourth most powerful storm to ever make landfall in the U.S.in terms of wind, and the third most powerful in terms of pressure, at 919 mb. The hurricane is forecast to hit the Florida Panhandle at a possible Category 4 storm. Florida has issued mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders in at least 22 counties on the Gulf Coast, with Governor Rick Scott urging people yesterday to get out of the way of the "monstrous storm", CNN reported . Without the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico to provide it fuel, forecasters say Michael will be downgraded even further to a tropical storm by Thursday morning. (more...)

The failed gyroscope has already been showing end-of-life behavior for about a year, NASA said on its website. Hurricane Michael continues to intensify and has upgraded to a category 3 storm Tuesday afternoon with the Florida Panhandle in its path.
