NASA astronauts used a super wide-angle lens to capture the footage of Hurricane Florence, due to the massive size of it. A video of the Category 2 Hurricane Florence has also been shared by NASA and it needs no introduction. The National Hurricane Center warned Monday there could be a "life-threatening" storm surge, rip currents, and freshwater flooding along the coasts of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, plus damaging hurricane-force winds at the coasts and further ... Floodwaters submerged U.S. Highway 264, cutting off a major route to other flood-prone areas along the river and the adjacent Pamlico Sound. There is really nowhere for the water to go. A 61-year-old woman died Friday night when her auto struck a tree that fell during the storm, state emergency officials said. He said the cause was not drowning and did not provide further details. The storm's center was about 110 miles (180 km) east of Wilmington , North Carolina , at 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) but tropical storm-strength winds and heavy rains already were hitting North Carolina's Outer Banks barrier islands.
