By the time Parker gets to its 22nd, 23rd and 24th orbits of the sun in 2024 and 2025, it will be even deeper into the corona and traveling at a record-breaking 430,000 mph (690,000 kilometers per hour). NASA has postponed the launch of its unmanned spacecraft on a scorching journey towards the sun until tomorrow, to allow engineers more time to investigate a red flag that was raised in the last moment before liftoff. The spacecraft eventually will run out of fuel and, no longer be able to keep its heat shield pointed toward the Sun, will burn and break apart - except perhaps for the rugged heat shield. (more...)
