Hurricane Hector closing in on Hawaii and volcano Hurricane Hector closing in on Hawaii and volcano
- August 08, 2018

While the latest eruptions started in May, the volcano has spewed lava since the 1980s, becoming a major tourist destination even as it threatened nearby residents . "By 48 h, the hurricane is predicted to encounter some drier mid-level air which is forecast to cause gradual weakening after that time". New Rogue Planet Discovered by Astronauts New Rogue Planet Discovered by Astronauts
- August 08, 2018

According to the researchers, this object came to be some 200 million years ago and is traveling all alone in the cosmos, with no other star in its proximity to revolve around. That's why they had problems in establishing its nature, oscillating between calling it a planet or a "failed" star , as brown dwarfs are called. Originally discovered in 2016, it was only recently that it was identified as a planetary-mass object, having originally been classified as a brown dwarf . (more...)

A brown dwarf is an object too large to be a planet, but isn't big enough to sustain the nuclear fusion of hydrogen in its core that is typical of stars. The massive planet is the first object of its kind to be discovered using a radio telescope. Brown dwarfs, hard to categorise, are too huge to be classified as planets and not big enough to be classified as stars. (more...)
