A £3.75bn auction of government bonds included a gilt that matures in July 2023 sold at an average yield of -0.003%, the Debt Management Office said. RBI has hiked the group exposure limit for banks to 30 percent from 25 percent. China on Friday abandoned setting an economic growth target for 2020, citing "great uncertainty" over the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the world's second-largest economy . Private sector analysts say as many as 30 percent of the country's 442 urban workers - or as many as 130 million people - lost jobs at least temporarily when the economy shut down to fight the virus and as many as 25 million jobs might be lost for good this year. Initial claims appeared to have passed their peak hit in late March, and the latest figure is down 249,000 from the almost 2.7 million claims file in the week ended May 9. (more...)
