USA testing was initially limited to a test provided by the Centers for Disease Control and conducted at state and local public health labs, but the FDA began allowing certified labs, including commercial lab testing companies, to develop and distribute COVID-19 tests on February 29. Australian authorities have been ramping up their financial response to the coronavirus outbreak amid fears it will tip the country into its first recession in almost three decades and lead to a surge in unemployment. The RBA has announced it will continue doing this, and in addition it will now conduct longer-term repo operations of six-month maturity or longer at least weekly, as long as market conditions warrant.
