In a Wednesday memo announcing the layoffs, Peretti told employees he hoped the reduction in headcount would keep BuzzFeed from seeking additional outside money from investors. The cutbacks are part of a wave of media layoffs. US -listed shares of Vale were down 7 percent in mid-afternoon trading. The Sao Paulo stock market was closed Friday for a holiday. An aerial view shows flooding triggered by the dam collapse. General Mills recalling some flour over potential presence of salmonella

The company is anxious about potential salmonella contamination . Salmonella was found during samples of the Gold Medal Unbleached Flour. Five-pound bags of Gold Medal unbleached flour with a better-if-used-by date of April 20, 2020. The CDC estimates there are 1.2 million cases annually in the USA, with about 450 ending in death. The Financial Times reports Microsoft Bing held less than two percent. Search engine results are also being monitored and censored, which is why Google pulled out in 2010 . In a statement on Wednesday, CAC said it had deleted more than 7 million pieces of online information and 9,382 mobile apps. It's no secret that the government has been cracking down on western services for a while, though it's control over the internet is only getting worse over time. (more...)
