Researchers of this study found that Covid-19 patients with blood groups A and AB had an increased risk of severe clinical outcomes, compared to patients with blood groups O or B. The findings revealed that there were fewer positive results among those with blood type O - the most common while peers with blood type A and AB were the most vulnerable. (more...)

Facebook has recently announced that the company will not accept ads that " discourage " vaccination, the latest example of Facebook's more aggressive approach to regulating content and ads as the U.S. According to the announcement, Facebook will be working with organizations like WHO and UNICEF on "public health messaging campaigns to increase immunization rates". There are now 3,608 people under "active public health monitoring", according to Henry and Brown. If Lilly's treatment gets the green light, the study will enroll another 700 patients, including sicker ones who may need supportive care for organ failure. Such pauses for large clinical trials can occur and don't necessarily mean anything is wrong with the treatment. Lilly is seeking authorization for high-risk patients recently diagnosed with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, based on promising data reported out last month from a different trial, known as BLAZE-1. A study in the Lancet Infectious Diseases journal stated that the man was the fifth known patient of the novel coronavirus who suffered from the infection for second time, and the first such patient in the US. It's possible the patient was exposed to a higher dose of virus the second time, that the version he encountered was more virulent or even that the presence of antibodies from the first infection was to blame in a twist observed with another coronavirus.
