After Reuters reported that the parties had set ground rules, the Afghan government negotiating team tweeted that the Reuters report was "incorrect", without elaborating. Diplomats had said that the talks got off to a hard start, with disagreements over how the Hanafi Islamic code could be used to guide negotiations and on whether the deal signed between the United States and the Taliban in February should be the basis for the talks, as demanded by the Taliban. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested six men for plotting to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer , a Democrat, so that they could try her for "treason". Fox 2 Detroit reported that the men are all MI residents, except for Croft. The Michigan men then reached out to a Michigan-based militia for assistance with the plan, the court filing said.
