Lafayette County long-term care facility sees more than 50 COVID-19 cases

The county's recovery rate now sits at 97%. Douglas County has reported 2,084 cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, an increase of 88 cases since Friday. To date, 3,679 people have tested positive in Ottawa, including 523 active cases, 2,880 resolved and 276 deaths. The last time Ottawa had this many known active cases was May 7, when they were 520. Health Minister Christine Elliott says parts of the plan are now being implemented, including increased testing capacity. The province is also reporting 18 new COVID-19 cases related to schools, including at least eight among students. (more...)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday took down an update posted to its website last week stating that coronavirus can spread through airborne particles and travel beyond the recommended six feet of distance. The data on virus transmission on planes, however, is lacking, so a definitive number of virus carriers and people who have gotten sick on airplanes is unknown. (more...)

As of 5pm yesterday, the BT60 postcode area was brought under new restrictions in relation to household visits and gatherings in gardens, which already cover the greater Belfast area and Ballymena. Marc Casavant late Sunday afternoon states that this case of coronavirus was not acquired at the school. All close contacts in the same room as the case have been identified and advised to self-isolate, public health said, and the centre will remain open to other children and staff. (more...)
