The novel coronavirus , which causes deadly COVID-19, has killed more than 820,000 people all over the world and infected millions more. They added that while under the conditions tested, pre-application of Mosi-guard to a latex synthetic skin resulted in a reduction of the virus, "SARS-CoV-2 England-2 isolate was recoverable from all surfaces tested and did not result in complete viral inactivation on the latex synthetic skin". Victoria Police confirmed the 59-year-old Tecoma man had been leaving a shopping centre auto park at the intersection of Terrys Avenue and Ena Road after 6pm when his vehicle was hit by the tree. Falling trees killed a four-year-old child, a 36-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man. Residents of nearly 90 cities were left without electricity. (more...)

On Tuesday it was announced that Almonte spirit producer Dairy Distillery is getting almost half-a-million dollars from the Ontario government to make more hand sanitizer. (more...)

Earlier Thursday, the WHO's chief for Europe, Dr Hans Kluge, warned that the coronavirus is a "tornado with a long tail" and said rising infections among young people could spread to more vulnerable older people and cause an uptick in deaths. (more...)

Of these cases, 22 are on campus and the remaining 13 are off campus. Notre Dame shifted to remote learning after 150 students tested positive for COVID-19 after a week on campus. The school made the decision to abruptly move classes online last week after placing about 500 students in quarantine but hoped to keep housing students on campus. (more...)

Add those numbers to the five from over the weekend and another death on Tuesday and we have a total for the week of 9 (total of 72 Covid-19 deaths in Hamilton County). About 18 percent of new cases in eastern Pennsylvania this month have involved people between the ages of 19 and 24, the health department said. The total number of people who have locally tested positive for COVID-19 since March is now 2,792. (more...)

Louisiana took the brunt of the damage when the Category 4 system barrelled over Lake Charles, an industrial and casino city of 80,000 people. The National Weather Service in Lake Charles warned that some communities will be "uninhabitable for weeks or months". (more...)

In New York , New Jersey, Pennsylvania and MI, the states' governors issued orders preventing nursing homes from refusing COVID-19 patients entry, despite the vulnerable populations in nursing homes. It also cited federal data showing NY, with almost 32,600 dead, leads the nation in COVID-19 deaths, and is second only to New Jersey in the number of deaths per population. (more...)

Caffeine is not only found in coffee but is also present in cola, chocolate and tea in low amounts. New research has found that there is "no safe level" of caffeine for pregnant women. Prof Andrew Shennan, Professor of Obstetrics , King's College London, said it was possible that women were under-estimating their coffee consumption, and said it remained clear that high doses of caffeine did most harm. But the CDC's policy was updated this week, removing that concern as a reason why someone should seek a test. "The two foundational organizations in this country for public health really have been the CDC and the FDA" - the Food and Drug Administration - and the credibility of both has just really been undercut", Osterholm said. Participants received two 100mg doses of the vaccine 28 days apart. The vaccine should begin producing a viral antigen which will activate a response in the body's immune system. Earlier this month, Moderna also struck a $1.5 billion supply agreement with the U.S. to produce 100 million doses. The deal allows the government to buy another 400 million doses if the jab proves successful. (more...)
