There have now been 41,695 lab-confirmed cases of infection in the province, with 2,802 deaths and 37,863 recoveries. The Marriott Hotel where a security guard on quarantine duty disobeyed orders before testing positive to COVID-19. The newly-diagnosed guard also worked at Sydney's Sheraton Grand Hyatt Park hotel on the night of August 16. A healthcare worker from Liverpool Hospital has been identified as one of the close contacts of a previous case and the other is a student from Our Lady of Mercy College in Parramatta. (more...)

EEE has been found repeatedly this summer in the area , according to the Oswego County Health Department. Lambton Public Health said on Monday that the mosquitos were collected from a trap in Petrolia on August 19. These symptoms often develop about 3 to 14 days after a bite from an infected mosquito and may last for several days. Fewer than one per cent of people infected with the virus get seriously ill, officials said. (more...)

Miami County Public Health has 996 positive cases. The DSHS COVID-19 dashboard now lists four COVID-19 related deaths in Hopkins County. The researchers from Hong Kong pointed out in their press release that "reinfection is common for "seasonal" coronaviruses" and that it can occur despite a "static level of specific antibodies ". Meanwhile, Liquor and Gaming NSW on Saturday announced it had fined the Red Lion Hotel in Rozelle $10,000 after a complaint about a 40-strong birthday lunch - allegedly concealed as four separate groups of 10 people - held on August 15. The count works out to an average of about 16.7 new cases over the weekend. As of Saturday, Washington had reported 71,012 cases and 1,863 deaths . Additionally, there have been 76 cases of COVID-19 in B.C. On Aug. 10 alone, six flights had a COVID-19 person onboard. The province is continuing to urge people to maintain physical distancing as cases increase and has implemented new measures to encourage the public to follow public safety guidelines. (more...)
