Now, restrictions have been reimposed across the state and almost 130 inmates, some as young as 13, have remained in lockdown in their cells as they and 500 staff at the facility undergo rigorous testing. His wife has also tested positive. The centre will not be taking new admissions and all face-to-face visits and court appearances have been cancelled, with all residents and staff present since 8 August to be checked. (more...)

BC health officials said on Friday that 90 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province, bringing the provincially recorded total number of cases to 4,915. "Rather, we are heartened that the vast majority of people in B.C. are doing their part to protect themselves and each other". The Whitley County Health Department reported only two new cases Friday afternoon, who are on completely opposite ends of the age spectrum. Nationally, children with COVID-19 represented about 8.8% of all USA cases at the end of July, compared to 9% in California, the analysis found. According to the authors, this finding suggests that children can carry a high viral load, meaning they are more contagious, regardless of their susceptibility to developing Covid-19 infection. The last known cases of plague in California occurred in 2015 in two visitors to Yosemite National Park, the statement said.
