Top infectious disease official Anthony Fauci said Wednesday he was "cautiously optimistic" of success and that "somewhere towards the end of the year, the beginning of 2021, we will know whether they have a safe and effective vaccine". As Indonesia seeks to stem an ongoing wave of infections, the government has been vocal about the need to secure sufficient supplies of a vaccine amid concerns some nations may miss out. (more...)

The positive result from the first test was "a big surprise to our family", DeWine said at a late afternoon news conference broadcast from his porch on his farm in Cedarville in southwestern OH, where he planned to quarantine for 14 days. The announcement came shortly before DeWine, a Republican, was scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump in Cleveland. DeWine then plans to quarantine at his home in Cedarville for 14 days. Officials also revealed that of the 53 people who were also present at the service and contracted the infection, 18 of them spread it to at least one other person. (more...)

An outbreak was declared by the authority on Haida Gwaii on July 24. The number of people who have died of COVID-19 in B.C. remains at 195. There are 371 active cases in B.C. Anita Anand, Procurement Minister said Ottawa was "very, very intensely negotiating" multiple deals with a number of other potential domestic and global vaccine suppliers, but did not give details. I tested positive. I have no symptoms at this time. "As part of the standard protocol to greet President Trump on the tarmac in Cleveland, I took a COVID test". Lt. Governor tested negative. The US government is paying Johnson & Johnson more than $1billion to produce more than 100 million coronavirus vaccine doses by 2021.
