More than 1,400 Minnesotans have now died due to complications related to COVID-19. Almost 80 percent of the state's deaths are from congregate care making up 1,116 of the 1,417 total deaths. Saturday's figures show 300 cases now in the hospital which is down from 335. Of Monday's total, 35 are in intensive care units and 18 are on ventilators. (more...)

Remdesivir's price has been a topic of intense debate since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved its emergency use in some COVID-19 patients in May. The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review, a nonprofit group that analyses drug prices, said remdesivir would be cost-effective in a range of US$4580 to US$5080 ($6683 to $7413) if it saved lives. Dr. Umanath said that Tamil Nadu was the first State to distribute the drug to every district. COVID-19 therapy by Covifor will cost less than 30,000 per patient. The EMA endorsement means physicians can prescribe the Gilead drug in Europe once the European Commission, the EU executive, gives its approval, which is now a formality expected over the coming week. Amidst this, several studies have found that anti-viral drug Remdesivir could be used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. "As part of a risk management plan, Cipla will provide training on use of the drug, informed patient consent documents, conduct post marketing surveillance as well as conduct a Phase IV clinical trial on Indian patients", the company said in a statement. The latest fatality was a woman in her early 60s who had one or more underlying health conditions, the county said. BISHKEK - Kyrgyzstan on Sunday reported 235 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 4,748.
