Moderna has received US$483 million (RM2.05 billion) in U.S. government funding, and on May 18 announced its first results among eight participants from the first phase of testing, which were seen as encouraging. The reproduction or "R" number - the number of people an infected individual passes the virus onto - needs to stay below 1.0 for the pandemic to slow. From next week, face coverings will be compulsory on all public transport. Of course, it's a virtual impossibility for 100% of people to wear face masks (and all models are wrong, remember), but this is a good indication of how useful masks can be. (more...)
