On Monday, officials at the United Nations health agency said hydroxychloroquine would be removed from those trials pending a safety assessment. United States president Donald Trump said last month that the drug, in combination with another, "ha [s] a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine", a claim widely panned. Doctors are trying to determine if Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, which may be connected to Covid-19 has reared it's ugly head in Wisconsin. Children's Wisconsin says most children have recovered from the syndrome, either in the hospital or at home. Most MIS-C patients no longer have COVID-19 and are not contagious. (more...)

The province says the changes will be effective June 1 and last until October 31, while industrial and commercial businesses will also see an extension of the COVID-19 relief through the end of June. While the House bill calls for the Ohio Lottery Commission to regulate sports betting in the state, the Senate bill pegs the Ohio Casino Control Commission to oversee the industry. LA SB 130 passed in the Senate on May 13 to move onto the House where it officially got through all approvals within two weeks. If they pass their version of the bill, the Ohio Congress could try to get something passed to be implemented by the start of the football season. (more...)

This is up 18,525 tests from the previous day, which is the highest number of tests completed in a 24-hour period in nearly three weeks. Another 17 people have died bringing the death toll to 2,247. The CDC says because many antibody tests are misleading, they recommend no policies or guidelines are made based upon results. There is ongoing evaluation of antibody testing through research. Florida has been conducting antibody testing of healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers and other first responders at drive-thru sites in Miami Gardens, West Palm Beach, Orlando and Jacksonville for about three weeks. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), which is collecting the plasma for the trial, is appealing to recovered COVID-19 patients, especially men aged over 35 or those have been admitted to hospital, to come forward. If convalescent plasma is shown to work, much more of it may be needed, and supply could become a challenge, Bhadelia says. The coalition, called " The Fight Is In Us ", recently launched a website to screen potential plasma donors and direct them to their nearest donation center. (more...)

Deena Hinshaw made the announcement on Wednesday during the COVID-19 update, stating that the new condition is similar to Kawasaki Disease , an inflammatory illness that is the most common cause of heart disease in children. Recently cases of MIS-C were reported in Franklin , Snohomish and King Counties. Six of the kids are known to be in South Florida.
