Monday, Governor Andy Beshear announced a 10-year-old child in Kentucky has the syndrome and is now on a ventilator. The condition is said to be similar to Kawasaki disease , which mainly affects children under the age of five, with symptoms including a high temperature, rashes, swelling and a toxic shock-style response. Provincial data says that 186 cases are now active throughout the province, with no known cases in the Regina area or southern region. There are now 11 people in hospital. "We've introduced our spending investment, but we would like to introduce some type of a budget if that's at all possible", Moe said. The government said 297 of the cases involve community contacts, 139 are travellers, 76 are still under investigation and 65 don't have any known exposures. (more...)
