Akin Abayomi, the state commissioner of health, broke the news on Twitter, on Thursday. The commissioner said two of the victims had no travel history or contact with an infected person. He said, "Unfortunately, Lagos recorded three additional deaths from #COVID-19 related complications". The deceased are males aged 51, 52 and 62. HCQ had received a lot of media attention following the publication of a controversial research study by French researchers, demonstrating that the drug could be effective in treating COVID-19 patients. A study of chloroquine in Brazil which involved a higher dose of the drug has been halted after 11 patients who were given the higher dose died.
