Ohio Attorney General David Yost sent letters to state abortion providers Friday telling them to temporarily stop performing elective abortions and other nonessential procedures, and defined what that meant. The CEOs of two Planned Parenthood affiliates in OH said their clinics also were in compliance, having cut back on the use of equipment that is in short supply. (more...)

The country's death toll increased Monday to 1,812, including 127 new deaths in the past 24 hours, a health ministry spokesman told state TV on Monday, adding that the country's total number of infected people has reached 23,049. Fever, cough and shortness of breath are the three main symptoms of COVID-19. Some coronaviruses from pangolins, armadillo-like mammals found in Asia and Africa, have an RBD structure very similar to that of SARS-CoV-2, so a coronavirus from a pangolin could possibly have been transmitted to a human, either directly or through an intermediary host, after which the corresponding cleavage site could have evolved within the human host. Northam says he'll announce today what's going to happen with public schools, which are now in the middle of a two-week closure. So far, three Virginians have died from the virus, and it has now spread to all regions of the state. He also says certain types of businesses, like bowling alleys, gyms and theaters, must close in response to the coronavirus outbreak. The Eastern Ontario Health Unit reported on Sunday a health care worker at the Ottawa Hospital tested positive for COVID-19. Five people have died, a 77-year-old man from Barrie, another man in his 70s in Barrie, a 51-year-old man from Halton Region, a 72-year-old woman from Markham and a man in his 70s from Toronto.
