On her return home from a trip to northern Italy where the virus is spreading rapidly it is believed she landed at Dublin Airport and travelled back to Belfast by using public transport. She was tested at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast but is being treated in isolation at home. Sara Cody, health officer for Santa Clara County and director of the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department. Officials submitted the woman's specimens for testing Thursday and received the results Thursday night. The state of Washington also announced a case on Friday that is believed to be the state's first possible instance of community spread. The virus can cause fever, coughing, wheezing and pneumonia. On Wednesday, officials announced the man's wife presented herself to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre's emergency department with a travel history to Iran and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 on February 24. The Ministry of Health said the woman in her 60s had recently travelled to Iran. The man arrived in Toronto on Tuesday, Feb. 25 and went to the emergency department of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre the next day. (more...)

As the Chronicle reports via county health officials, the Santa Clara County patient is an older woman with chronic health conditions who was hospitalized with a respiratory illness. As of Friday, CDC said it had resolved the issue. She was tested on Sunday, Feb. 23.
