The prime minister has also announced Australia is activating an emergency plan to deal with the outbreak of the coronavirus , amid expectations a global pandemic will soon be declared. Australia has so far had 22 cases of COVID-19, most of which have been cleared and are now back in the community. The number of new cases of the coronavirus reported outside China has exceeded the number of new cases in China for the first time, World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told diplomats in Geneva yesterday.
