To date, 83 cases - up from 61 reported last week - of vaping-related illness have been forwarded to the health department following Gov. Charlie Baker's September 11 mandate requiring they report cases to the department. Gov. Phil Murphy has formed a special task force to come up with ways for New Jersey to fight the epidemic and regulate vaping. County officials are targeting October 2 for the date of the aerial spray. If people feel unsafe being outside when planes are spraying, Conrad advises the public to shut windows and doors, in addition to turning off the air conditioner, although she reiterated no known negative health effects are ... The World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer has said consumption of red meat is "probably carcinogenic" to humans, whereas processed meat is considered "carcinogenic". Among the observational studies, which covered millions of people, they did find "a very small reduction in risk" in those who ate three fewer servings of red or processed meat a week, but said this association "was very uncertain". After a weather-related delay, aerial spraying is planned in four MI counties to combat a rare mosquito-borne virus. EEE is found primarily in areas with swamps and bogs. Twelve local health departments across the state have authorized the aerial spraying in high-risk areas to further fight the spread of triple EEE. "The product being used is called Merus 3.0". The agency has talked about the case. The man had hunted deer in the same area where two other hunters were likely infected with T.B. from deer more than 15 years earlier. According to the CDC, the illness impacted a 77-year-old man in MI. Hunters are advised to use protective equipment when field-dressing a deer to help avoid infection. (more...)
