According to the country's National Centre for Zoonotic Disease, at least one person dies of the illness every year in the central Asian country, usually after coming into contact with the bacteria-carrying rodents. Unfortunately, marmots are known carriers of Yersinia pestis , the bacterium that culled Europe as the " Black Death " in the middle ages. Symptoms of the plague includes fever, chills and weakness. Research on Scottish pensioners found that a quarter of people aged 65 and over experienced symptoms of depression when they last felt lonely, with 16% saying it also leads to feelings of anxiety. These bidirectional effects were more consistent for females than for males, but again, these were modest trends. According to Prof Andy Przybylski, coauthor of the research from Oxford University, "99.75% of a young person's life satisfaction across a year has nothing to do with whether they are using more or less social media".
