Jerome Kunkel, 18, got sick with chickenpox last week, almost two months after the Northern Kentucky health department issued its order to control an outbreak at two small parochial schools in Boone County. The study conducted over eight years examined around 1000 male couples across Europe, where one of the partners was HIV infected and was receiving antiretroviral drugs. Myron S Cohen, from the UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases in North Carolina, said in a commentary in the Lancet that this new discovery should push the world forward to test and treat everyone with HIV. It's the most in the US since 1994, when 963 were reported. And, infants ages 6 to 11 months should also receive a dose of a measles vaccine before traveling internationally , since various countries are reporting extensive measles outbreaks'. (more...)

"From 1960-1968, they might have gotten a vaccine that wasn't as effective as the vaccine that we have now", Martinez said.
