That's an increase of more than 36 percent from 2015. Of the 63,632 lethal overdoses that year, almost two in three involved opioids, prescription or otherwise. IL suffered a 22% increased rate of deaths due to heroin overdose, one of the largest increases in the country. On average, the study found, people who'd dined out - at any type of restaurant or cafeteria - had a phthalate intake that was 35 percent higher than people who'd eaten only home-prepared meals. "Dining out may be an important source of biologically relevant cumulative phthalates exposure among the USA population", the authors write. The association between phthalate exposure and dining out was significant across all age groups, but especially strong for young people, said the researchers. (more...)
