Two more residents of the McKenzie Towne care centre in Calgary have died of COVID-19. There are now a total of 240 recoveries, up from 196. The number of confirmed cases in the province increased by 106 to 1,181 cases. The update comes one day after Alberta Health imposed new rules on long-term care centres following rising levels and outbreaks of COVID-19 at several facilities. (more...)

The theory is that the Sars-COV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 has a protein that stops our cells mounting an immune response, Ivermectin stops that protein, allowing the immune system to work, she said. At noon today, Ontario Health president Matthew Anderson, University of Toronto public health school dean Adalsteinn Brown and Public Health Ontario president Peter Donnelly will brief the public on projected case numbers and deaths. The number of cases in the province climbed 16 per cent in one day and now stands at 3,255. There are a total of 3,400 hospital beds in the Champlain Region, he said. (more...)

The number of deaths in the province has reached 61, 25 more than were reported Thursday. And while the orders that have come in recently are smaller amounts, Legault is hopeful more is expected to arrive in the coming days. Legault noted that Quebec has tested aggressively, and that each province has slightly different criteria for testing. Spokesperson Victoria Slodki said Health Canada rushed to give the go-ahead. France has carried out even fewer tests than the United Kingdom, and Spain tried to bridge supply chain issues by buying millions of test kits from China that later had to be withdrawn after giving flawed results. Downing Street had confirmed that Johnson was still showing signs of the disease. According to the Associated Press, Trudeau's comments came after US -based manufacturing company 3M confirmed President Donald Trump's administration requested the company cease exporting respirators to Canada and Latin America. These are things that Americans rely on and it would be a mistake to create blockages or reduce the amount of back and forth trade of essential goods and services, including medical goods, across our border.
