American jets bombed Syrian "pro-regime forces" Wednesday, the Pentagon said, after what it described as an "unprovoked attack" against US -backed rebel fighters east of the Euphrates River. In response, the coalition "conducted strikes against attacking forces to repel the act of aggression", the statement added. Meanwhile, reports from rebel-held areas near the capital of Damascus claim that airstrikes from the Syrian government and Russian Federation killed scores of civilians. (more...)

Two Turkish soldiers were martyred in a mortar attack by PYD-YPG/PKK/KCK and Daesh terrorists in Syria's northwestern Afrin region, according to a military statement on Wednesday. "We implore the worldwide community to speak with one voice, taking every opportunity to publicly pressure the Assad regime, and its supporters, to cease its use of chemical weapons and hold those responsible accountable for these brutal attacks", the statement said. According to a brief statement from the General Command and the Syrian Armed Forces, the anti-air defense units intercepted, without quantifying number, most of the missiles fired by Israeli forces. UK-based monitoring group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), said some Israeli missiles did hit Syrian targets. The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the accusations. The number of sexual assaults reported at West Point has increased for four consecutive years, AP noted, starting with the 2013-2014 school year. About 12,000 students are enrolled in the three schools. The report also assessed that the Naval Academy's increase in reported sexual assault cases, to 29 from 28 the year before, was insignificant.
