The Chilean Constitutional Tribunal protected women's rights when it ruled on August 21, 2017 that a new law to end the full criminalization of abortion in Chile was constitutional, Human Rights Watch said today. Polls in July showed that 70 percent of Chileans support legalised abortion under the three conditions mentioned in the bill. NBC affiliate WLEX reported that witnesses said Hays and Belcher had been in a crowd of people watching the partial eclipse.
