The Bangladeshi man accused of attempting a suicide bombing in a busy New York City commuter hub in the name of Islamic State in December was indicted on U.S. After the blast, Akayed told police interviewers that "I did it for the Islamic State", according to court papers filed by federal prosecutors. Meunier says although he's not thrilled to be the first victim in decades, he says he's lucky to be alive. Meunier told deputies that after his dog ran inside, a bear attacked him, swiping at him with its paw. Meunier suffered several cuts across his head and chest and was transported to a local hospital, where he received 41 stitches. The attack happened on Dream Catcher Circle in Naples, across the street from Gulf Coast High School. (more...)

A body discovered in a vacant Subway shop in the Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Georgia has been identified. The man's 40-year-old hiking companion told police the 33-year-old had run ahead of him as they descended the mountain. An American citizen was found dead on a popular hiking trail in central Australia after taking a wrong turn, police said on Thursday, warning of the dangers posed by extreme heat during the summer months.
