Centrist Emmanuel Macron and far-right nationalist Marine Le Pen won the first round of the French presidential election, triggering a runoff on May 7 between two radically different visions of the country's future. Mr Fillon and Mr Melenchon each polled 19.5 per cent and were eliminated. Though Le Pen came in behind Macron, there was joy at the FN's election party in Henin-Beaumont, a former coal mining town in northern France, with outbursts of the Marseillaise national anthem. Witnesses and survivors said the assailants sprayed gunfire among mostly unarmed Afghan soldiers and officers, many of whom were either just leaving weekly prayers at the base's mosque or eating in its canteen. The Taliban claimed the attack has killed "over 500 soldiers". But the Taliban hardly let up its campaign this past winter, instead repeatedly attacking strategic cities and towns in scattered regions, and gradually gaining influence or control over greater portions of the country. The tea estate served as a second home for Jayalalithaa. A relative saw the event was occurring and told them about it, sparking their interest in attending the Animal Egg Hunt. They brought three children to hunt for eggs, not to practise their faith but to enjoy family time. There were about 200 children at the event on Friday, taking pictures with the Easter bunny, petting a goat and participating in an egg hunt. Four thousand Easter eggs were placed around the park.
