The driver at one point stuck his head out the window and appeared to speak with police officials. As of shortly before 9 p.m., the man remained on top of the crane tower in a standoff with police. Just before climbing the crane, the suspect led officers in a chase in an allegedly stolen vehicle. By nightfall, the man had stripped off and thrown his clothes from the crane. (more...)

The weather looks good for the kick off of the high school football season Friday evening. The threat of tornadoes is low, but it does exist, according to the National Weather Service. Though local officials downplayed any threat and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was unruffled as he headed to Guam to refuel on his trip back to Washington from Malaysia, people who live and work on the island said they could no longer shrug off the idea of being a potential target.
