Police picked up the trail in a chase that lasted 2 miles before Stephens took his own life, authorities said. "There was a short pursuit in which the vehicle was stopped". Additionally, the authors reviewed published material and found that "most shooters desired fame and wished to emulate a previous mass shooter".
