"I'd say nearly ecstatic that Kim Jong Un has backed off". That appeared to signal a path to defuse the crisis. US Defense Secretary James Mattis warned that further escalation may swiftly devolve into actual war, adding that many young servicemen may find themselves in a wartime situation. (more...)

The graffiti at the Lincoln Memorial was to be removed with "a mild, gel-type architectural paint stripper that is safe for use on historic stone", the Park Service said. "The graffiti was hard to read, but appeared to say "[expletive] law", the statement said. The tower's cracked masonry needs repairing and work needs to be done to prevent condensation which has led to rust in the belfry. Lisa Theris a missing 25 year old Louisville , Alabama woman has told of surviving living in the woods after getting lost after fleeing what she only discovered at the last moment was a planned robbery that she wanted no part of. Police said they would be questioning her about what she saw in the burglary later, but for now were letting her recover from the ordeal. This area has been a bone of contention between India and China as both claim it to be a part of their territory.
