Polls appear to indicate that Front National candidate Marine Le Pen will make it through to the second round of the vote with far-left candidate Jean Luc Melenchon gaining ground on centrist Emmanuel Macron. In an Ifop-Fiducial poll for Le Journal du Dimanche (JDD) newspaper, 86 per cent of National Front voters said they "no longer feel at home" in France and 73 per cent considered Islam incompatible with the French republic.
