Tube strike is cancelled… but it's chaos on the trains

Tube union Aslef announced it has called off a 24-hour walkout on October 5, 2017 . London mayor Sadiq Khan welcomed the suspension of strike action and added that he hoped talks would continue "constructively" and without disruption. TfL Rail, London Overground, DLR and Emirates Air Line will all be running normally, but will be busier than usual. This means that at best Londoners, commuters and tourists will only have a skeleton service if the planned strike goes ahead. (more...)

Talabani's death, following a decades-old struggle for Kurdish statehood, came after Iraq's Kurds voted 92.7 percent in favour of independence in the September 25 referendum. Talabani, on next visit to Turkey, said, "I did not say Kurdish cat, I said Iraqi cat". Talabani fought alongside Kurdish peshmerga forces in 1961 in a bid to acquire independence from Iraq. 'People who are using the internet to spread terrorist propaganda and instructions will be tracked down and caught, ' he said. "This is a significant challenge as encryption is vital for the protection of many legitimate activities including national security ecommerce and personal privacy". (more...)

An animal welfare organisation founded by a Californian woman is rescuing dogs left behind in the danger zone of a menacing volcano on the Indonesian island of Bali. "Earthquakes happen everyday, maybe every hour". However, she said it's more important for animals to be treated humanely. There are hundreds of tremors each day triggered by the volcano, a handful of which are magnitude 2-3 and are strong enough to rattle windows and rock furniture. (more...)

Peter King, a Republican from NY, former law enforcement officer, and Mike Thompson, a member of the NRA, a Democrat, had this and I think there's significant support, certainly majority support in the Democratic Party, less so in the Republican Party. The Akins Accelerator was created to let a rifle's recoil bounce its functional parts like the trigger group and barrel back and forth within its stock, so that the trigger could be pulled ever faster.
