The March for Racial Justice , which organizers say they're holding to combat racism, white supremacy, sexism and other forms of bigotry and oppression, chose September 30 to mark the 98th anniversary of the Elaine Massacre, in which more than 100 African Americans, mostly sharecroppers, from Elaine, Arkansas, were murdered by mobs after demanding better pay from white plantation owners. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the runway of the airport would be extended from the present 2,500 metres to 3,200 metres. The airport will be equipped with the night landing facility in upcoming months. The aerodrome is owned and developed by Maharashtra Airport Development Company, a special goal vehicle to develop airports in the state.
