BEIJING-U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said China needed to "guarantee fair and reciprocal treatment for U.S. firms" as he tried to strike an upbeat tone on a visit to Beijing amid trade tensions between the two countries. The two sides launched a 100-day economic plan at that meeting, including some industry-specific announcements such as the resumption of American beef sales in China. (more...)

In an important announcement, the Trump administration has chose to replace its travel ban with a new proclamation in which eight countries are prohibited to enter the United States . Chad , North Korea and Venezuela were not covered by the earlier ban. These new restrictions will go into effect starting October 18, 2017. On Monday, President Pyotr Poroshenko of Ukraine signed a law on education that says instruction in the languages of ethnic minorities will be restricted to the elementary school as of 2018 while all the subjects in the middle school and high school will be taught exclusively in the Ukrainian language. A Walt Disney World resort employee is accused of leaving a 2-year-old girl in her auto while she went inside to get her manager's approval to take time off to care for the toddler, according to the Orlando Sentinel . The girl's temperature was 97.1 degrees, according to the affidavit. She was taken to Celebration Hospital in stable condition.
