Transparent public toilets take Tokyo

These toilet cubicles, which are transparent, have been designed using "smart glass" which turns opaque as soon as the door is locked, allowing the users to feel safe and have privacy. Tokyo Toilet Project , which is in charge of the scheme, hopes to install the cubicles at 17 different locations in Shibuya by next spring. Kyle was expected to fizzle out by Monday night. The other is further east off the coast of Africa and also has a 30% chance of development mid-to-late this week. However, their impacts on land have been minimal - in Kyle's case, non-existent - and both are expected to continue to weaken. On its present west-northwesterly track, the centre of the system is expected to continue to pass to the north of the Leeward Islands during the weekend. (more...)

The governments of Wales , Scotland and Northern Ireland had already said that the teacher-assessed grades would stand. She also confirmed students awarded higher results than their teacher-assessed grades would not lose those grades. Following an uproar and protests this weekend the government made a U-turn on its A-levels results grading. Yet if your school agrees to an appeal, there are no clear answers about how long the process might take - because Ofqual and the exam boards can not ... (more...)

The date change means parliament will return on Tuesday and be dissolved on September 6. National's read on the new date was hard to gauge. Advance voting will now start on October 3. Collins, who wanted the election moved to next year, tweeted this morning that Ardern had announced the new date was October 17. "We acknowledge the new date", Collins said in a statement yesterday. President Donald Trump on Friday ordered ByteDance to sell its US assets within 90 days, adding to an earlier executive order that would prohibit USA persons and companies from doing business with TikTok effective 45 days from August 6. The Financial Times reports that Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is one of the few U.S. executives who have openly supported President Trump although it is not clear if the Tech software giant is the preferred suitor for TikTok.
