Demers said in a statement. A naturalized USA citizen born in Hong Kong, Ma worked for the Central Intelligence Agency between 1982 and 1989, then moved to Shanghai. Prosecutors say their scheme began with meetings in Hong Kong in March 2001 during which the two former CIA officers provided classified knowledge to the foreign intelligence service. (more...)

Belarus' Ministry of Internal Affairs said about 7,000 protesters had been detained in different cities since August 9. The EU has now moved towards sanctions for the country. (more...)

The US president has signalled that he could look to shut out more Chinese tech companies from the US. The Toronto Police Marine Unit has recovered a body during their search for a 23-year-old man who went missing Saturday in Lake Ontario near Bluffer's Park. The boy's two rescuers are said to have been injured in the incident as well, receiving non-life-threatening injuries. Police were called to the area after a boater spotted a person in the water without vital signs. (more...)
