Greek state TV is reporting that one body has been discovered and some crash debris has also been located. The Canadian Armed Forces have confirmed they have lost contact with the aircraft but no other details are available. The ship set sail for a six-month deployment in late January. It is now one of eight warships attached to NATO's Standing Maritime Group 2, which are responsible for providing a visible military presence in the Mediterranean. (more...)

After factoring in deaths in all settings such as care homes, the number of people in Britain who have died after testing positive for the virus has now hit 26,097, way ahead of the 21,678 announced on Tuesday. Doyle said the new figures put the United Kingdom roughly in line with its peers in Europe, when adjusted for population. Although global comparisons are hard, the updated figures confirm Britain's place among the European countries worst hit by the viral pandemic. (more...)

At least 30 federal inmates have died since March of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and 1,313 inmates have tested positive, according to the BOP. A Canadian military helicopter operating as part of a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation surveillance force has gone missing in worldwide waters between Greece and Italy, officials said on Wednesday (April 29). The military was originally supposed to have received 28 Cyclones from manufacturer Sikorsky starting in November 2008. Five other people were meant to be aboard, but they are still missing. Greek news outlets reported the helicopter crashed into the sea off the coast of Greece on Wednesday. The Canadian military confirmed it had lost contact with the helicopter, a CH-148 Cyclone, and that rescue efforts were underway.
